SAMOYED

The Samoyed is the smiling dog of the Siberian tundra, bred for millennia by the nomadic Samoyede people who share its name. It herded their reindeer, hauled their sleds, and slept among the children at night, its thick white coat a barrier against a cold few animals could survive.

That endurance carried it to the ends of the earth. Samoyeds pulled sledges across the ice of the great polar expeditions, trusted for their strength and their almost human warmth. The breed's signature upturned mouth, the so called Sammy smile, kept ice from forming at the corners of its lips, a piece of evolutionary elegance that reads, to us, as pure joy.
