CAT COLLECTION
BENGAL
DESCRIPTION
The Bengal is the most recent of the great pedigree cats, created in the 1960s and 1970s by Jean Mill, a Californian breeder who crossed domestic shorthairs with the Asian leopard cat to produce a companion with the silhouette and spotted coat of a small jungle hunter and the temperament of a parlor cat. The result is a breed that wears the wild as ornament.
The Bengal has become the favored companion of the design-conscious, appearing in editorials from Vogue to Architectural Digest, beloved by stylists, photographers, and a generation of collectors drawn to the idea of bringing a small piece of untamed elegance into a Park Avenue apartment. Few cats blend the domestic and the exotic so completely.
The Bengal edition is the most untamed in the REMUS Collection. A burnished ochre linen cover, the breed's rosetted coat reimagined through extreme macro photography, every spot and marbled swirl rendered with the precision of a leopard's pelt under museum light. A book for the cat that brought the jungle to the windowsill.
