DOG COLLECTION
SHIBA INU
DESCRIPTION
The Shiba Inu is the oldest and smallest of Japan's six native breeds, a hunting dog from the mountainous regions of central Japan, ancient enough to have lived alongside Jomon-era humans more than two thousand years ago. Spirited, independent, and unmistakably fox-like in expression, the Shiba is a study in the elegance of restraint.
The breed was nearly lost during World War II and survived only through one of the most determined breed-preservation efforts in canine history. Today the Shiba moves easily between worlds, a fixture of Japanese design and advertising and, as the face of the Doge meme, the patron saint of a thousand internet jokes. Few dogs carry tradition and contemporaneity with such equanimity.
The Shiba Inu edition is the most spirited in the REMUS Collection. A soft lilac linen cover, the breed's plush double coat reimagined through extreme macro photography, every cream and red strand rendered with the precision of a woodblock print, every whisker a small statement. A tribute to the dog that survived a war and conquered the world.
