DESCRIPTION
The Vizsla is the golden hound of Hungary, a pointing dog bred by the Magyar tribes who swept into the Carpathian basin more than a thousand years ago. For centuries it was the treasured companion of Hungarian warlords and landed aristocracy, a hunter of rare elegance whose rust-gold coat seemed cast from the same light as the Hungarian plain.
It rode with falconers and walked the great estates, appearing in the hunting chronicles of medieval Hungary. The breed came close to vanishing in the upheavals of the twentieth century, saved by a handful of devotees who carried the last dogs out of a collapsing Europe. Today it is prized as much for its devotion as its nose, a dog that presses itself to its owner as if it cannot bear the distance.
The Vizsla edition sets that warmth against cool restraint. A slate blue linen cover, the breed's burnished copper coat reimagined through extreme macro photography, each short hair lit like polished bronze, each amber eye holding the steadiness of a working hound. A book that gives the aristocrat of the Hungarian field the portrait it has always deserved.
