DOG COLLECTION
GREAT DANE
DESCRIPTION
The Great Dane has been called the Apollo of dogs since long before anyone thought to write it down. Despite the name, the breed is German, developed as the Deutsche Dogge from the boarhounds of the Middle Ages and refined by the nobility into something closer to sculpture than to hunting stock. The Danish reference is a French misunderstanding that simply never got corrected.
The tallest dogs ever recorded have all been Great Danes, and the breed has spent a century as shorthand for scale itself, from Scooby-Doo to Marmaduke to the enormous quiet presence stretched across a living room floor. Few animals occupy a room so completely while asking for so little.
The Great Dane edition is the most monumental in the REMUS Collection. A deep pine linen cover, the breed's short close coat reimagined through extreme macro photography, every hair lying flat against a body built on the scale of architecture, every fold of the neck a study in mass at rest. A tribute to the gentlest giant ever bred.
