DOG COLLECTION
POODLE
DESCRIPTION
Often mistaken for a creature of decadent French extraction, the Poodle is in fact German by birth, a water-retrieving working dog whose name derives from the German pudeln, "to splash." It was France that recognized its theatrical brilliance and made it the official dog of the court, a transformation as complete and stylish as any in the history of breeding.
Marie Antoinette kept them at Versailles; Gertrude Stein wrote alongside her white Poodle Basket in Paris; Winston Churchill was rarely without his poodle Rufus, who kept his own place at the dinner table. From the boulevards of Saint-Germain to the salons of New York, the breed has always carried itself with the assurance of an artist who has nothing to prove and everything to play with.
The Poodle edition closes the REMUS Collection with distinction. A natural linen cover in raw oat, the extraordinary curled fur reimagined through extreme macro photography, each ringlet rendered as sculpture, each curve a small architectural feat. A tribute to the most intelligent, theatrical, and consistently underestimated dog in history.
