DESCRIPTION

The Jack Russell is the fearless little hunter of the English countryside, bred in nineteenth-century Devon by the Reverend John Russell, a parson so devoted to the chase that he was known across the shires as the Sporting Parson. He wanted a terrier small enough to follow a fox underground yet bold enough to face it there, and in a white-coated bitch named Trump he found the foundation of a breed.

Predominantly white by design, so the hounds would never mistake it for its quarry, the Jack Russell became the terrier of the hunt field and the farmyard, all nerve and intelligence packed into a small, muscular frame. That same spark made it a natural performer: from Eddie in Frasier to Uggie in The Artist, the breed has stolen scenes with the sharp, mischievous wit that has always been its signature.

The Jack Russell edition captures that energy. An amber linen cover, the breed's crisp white coat and tan markings rendered through extreme macro photography, every short, dense hair and bright, inquisitive eye caught in exquisite detail. A book as spirited, quick, and impossible to ignore as the dog itself.
